“With love, the lover and the beloved are one soul. They carry the same spirit—never think of them as two.”
The Divan-ı Kebir Candleholder is crafted in inspiration of the semazen (whirling dervish) form, reflecting the spiritual elegance of Sufi tradition. On the body of the candleholder, the word “Hu”—used in Sufism as a sacred reference to Allah—is written in the Kufic (Kufi) calligraphic style.
Around the neck of the piece appears a couplet from the 224th ghazal of the Divan-ı Kebir, conveying the unity of love and existence:
“With love, the lover and the beloved are one soul. They carry the same spirit. Never think of them as two.”The Divan-ı Kebir is a monumental poetic work consisting of 44,834 couplets, composed by Mevlana Jalal al-Din Rumi as an expression of divine love. Referred to by Rumi as “My Divan of Lovers,” the work is also known as the Divan-i Shams-i Tabrizi. Throughout these ghazals, Rumi brings divine love to the foreground through powerful symbols—especially Shams (the sun)—alongside imagery such as gardens, the rose and nightingale, lover and beloved, and wine and cupbearer, conveying with poetic clarity that the heart finds no peace until it is reunited with the Divine.
The Divan-ı Kebir Candleholder is crafted from handmade green glass, and all raised relief motifs are meticulously hand-decorated using 24-carat gold gilding, showcasing refined artisanal craftsmanship. A cream-colored candle is included with the product.
