Velvet fabrics used in the garments and decorative elements of the Ottoman palace and elite circles reflected the era’s refined understanding of luxury and elegance. The motifs woven into these textiles were valued not only for their beauty, but also as artistic works carrying cultural and spiritual meaning.

Between the 16th and 18th centuries, Ottoman textiles were most commonly enriched with botanical and geometric ornamentation. The patterns featured on the Pomegranate Weave Bowl are inspired by an exceptional velvet textile produced in Bursa in the early 17th century, woven with silk threads over velvet.

The original fabric is adorned with pomegranate motifs—a powerful Ottoman symbol of abundance and prosperity—accompanied by carnation motifs, another beloved floral element of the period.

The Pomegranate Weave Bowl is crafted from handmade glass, and its raised relief patterns are entirely hand-decorated using 24-carat gold and glass paints, showcasing meticulous artisanal craftsmanship.
