A majestic landmark on Istanbul’s skyline, the Süleymaniye Mosque is also one of the masterpieces through which Mimar Sinan shaped and elevated the legacy of Turkish urbanism and architecture.

On the Süleymaniye Bowl, three calligraphic panels and one inscription from the Süleymaniye Mosque are reinterpreted as decorative motifs. The first panel features Surah Fatir, verse 41, written in the elegant Jali Thuluth (Celi Sülüs) script. The second and third panels present the first and second parts of Surah Al-Fatiha.

Used as the border ornamentation of the bowl, the inscription from the mosque’s rim carries the names of the Ottoman sultans in a continuous lineage—from Osman Gazi to Suleiman the Magnificent. Its harmonious visual rhythm is largely created through the deliberate arrangement of letters and the repeated phrase “bin es-sultan” (“son of the Sultan”), forming a striking ceremonial sequence.

The Süleymaniye Bowl is crafted from handmade glass, and all raised relief motifs are meticulously hand-decorated using 24-carat gold, showcasing refined artisanal craftsmanship and sacred architectural heritage.
