The patterns of the Illumination of Nur Vase are inspired by the gilded manuscript ornamentation (tezhip) of a Persian Shahnameh of Ferdowsi, prepared in the name of Sultan Ali Mirza of the Gilan Shahs during the Timurid period, and exhibited at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts.

Dated to 1475–1500, this Persian masterpiece was authored by Abu’l-Qasim Ferdowsi. The Shahnameh was prepared in two volumes and includes a rich collection of miniatures, reflecting the refined artistic language of classical manuscript tradition.

Crafted from handmade glass, the Illumination of Nur Vase is meticulously finished by hand: all raised relief motifs are decorated using 24-carat gold gilding and glass paints, showcasing exceptional artisanal mastery and luminous detail.

The Shahnameh is a monumental epic work that narrates historical events and the lives of significant rulers, forming one of the most important masterpieces of Persian literary heritage.
