Set in the lands of Çanakkale and celebrated as one of the most compelling legends of Greek mythology, the Trojan War has fascinated the world not only through its epic narrative, but also through its unforgettable heroes.

Among the central figures of the war are Prince Hector, renowned for his courage and remembered as the commander of the Trojan army, and Achilleus (Achilles)—considered the greatest warrior of the ancient world and portrayed in myths as a demi-god. Alongside them stands Aias of Salamis (Ajax), who, despite arriving at Troy with only twelve ships, was regarded as the bravest Achaean warrior after Achilles.

This dramatic scene—originally depicted on a handled vessel dated to 500–480 BC—is brought back to life on glass through the Troy Vase. The design is inspired by an ancient vessel decorated by Douris, one of the most celebrated vase painters of his time, whose original work is preserved at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

The composition portrays a pivotal moment: a vote—guided by Athena—in which Odysseus and Ajax request the armor of Achilles, capturing both the tension of heroic rivalry and the timeless storytelling power of classical art.
