In Islamic tradition, certain Qur’anic verses and supplications are recited for protection from the evil eye (nazar), accidents, misfortunes, and harm, as well as for healing and wellbeing. Among the most widely known of these is Ayat al-Kursi, the 255th verse of Surah Al-Baqarah.
On the Korur Panel, Ayat al-Kursi is written in the refined Jali Thuluth (Celi Sülüs) calligraphic style.
The meaning of the verse can be rendered as:
“Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them. And they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”The Korur Panel was created with the intention that the space it inhabits be protected from harmful energies and the evil eye, serving as both a meaningful spiritual presence and an elegant decorative object.
All raised relief patterns on the Korur Panel are meticulously hand-decorated using 24-carat gold gilding and enamel paints (mine), highlighting exceptional artisanal craftsmanship.
