Helmets, among the earliest forms of close-defense equipment, have been used since ancient times to protect a warrior's head from blows. Beyond their function as protective armor, helmets also served as symbols of prestige, enhancing magnificence during state ceremonies and military processions through their striking forms and elaborate presence.

Primarily made of metal, historic helmets were crafted using techniques such as forging, cutting, riveting, casting, and chain-link weaving. Their decoration often included advanced metalworking methods such as gold and silver inlay, gemstone inlay, relief work, and surface texturing. Many Anatolian-origin military objects, acquired through wars and sieges, are today preserved in museums around the world - making helmets prominent artifacts within numerous collections.

Uniting the elegant contours of a historic helmet with the transparent and captivating nature of glass, the Devran Helmet is inspired by a 16th-century Ottoman helmet exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Reflecting the spirit of its era through a contemporary interpretation, the motifs follow the classical Ottoman decorative tradition.

The inscriptions on the Devran Helmet are composed of the first three verses of Surah Al-Fath. Crafted from handmade glass, the piece features raised relief motifs meticulously hand-decorated using 24-carat gold, gilding, and antique-effect paints, showcasing exceptional artisanal craftsmanship.
