During the Ottoman era, when sultans and palace women visited the hamam, they traditionally carried clay and soap in lidded copper boxes known as kildanlık. The Rumi Sugar Bowl takes its form from these historical kildanlık containers, reinterpreting an element of Ottoman daily life through refined decorative art.

The raised relief motifs on the sugar bowl are stylized adaptations of rumi and floral ornaments found on a wooden box dated to 1420–1449. These classical decorative elements—deeply rooted in Ottoman and Islamic ornamentation—lend the piece a timeless, ceremonial elegance.

Crafted from handmade glass, the Rumi Sugar Bowl is finished with relief patterns meticulously hand-decorated using 24-carat gold and antique-effect paints, highlighting exceptional artisanal craftsmanship.
