The body of the Tulip Finial Vase is decorated with stylized motifs inspired by a 16th-century Bursa textile from the Ottoman era. The original fabric is part of the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts (Iparművészeti Múzeum) in Budapest.

The vase is crowned with a tulip-shaped finial (alem)—a form also represented by a similar wooden example exhibited at the David Samling Museum. In Türkiye, metal versions of tulip-shaped finials can also be found in various museum collections.

Engraved on the finial is the phrase “Ya Şafi” in tulip form—an invocation meaning “O Healer”, one of the divine names traditionally used in Islamic culture.

In Ottoman architectural tradition, the alem refers to the crescent-topped ornamental finial placed at the peak of domes and spires of significant Islamic structures such as mosques, mausoleums, madrasas, and dervish lodges (tekkes).

The Tulip Finial Vase is crafted from handmade glass, with raised relief patterns meticulously decorated entirely by hand using gilding and glass paint. The finial is made of brass, also produced through skilled hand craftsmanship.
