The Eros Mosaic is a floor mosaic dated to the first half of the 3rd century AD. The mosaic depicts multiple figures of Eros, rendered in varying ages and proportions, each shown fishing. In their hands are fishing rods, and at the end of the lines they hold fish. A distinctive funnel-shaped seashell also draws attention within the composition.
Crafted from handmade caramel-toned glass, the Eros Vase is finished through an exceptional level of craftsmanship: its raised relief motifs are coated with 24-carat gold gilding, and each mosaic fragment is individually hand-painted using specialized glass paints, recreating the richness of the original mosaic in luminous detail.
